Macro Monday

Our visit to the Branson Butterfly Palace was so amazing and I took so many photos! Many photos hit the recycle bin because of blurring beyond all recognition. The selections below are not in perfect focus, but still too beautiful to discard. These are very happy butterflies with their ideal humidity, nectar dishes, natural light dome, and rules that the humans cannot touch them! It's no wonder they were quick little flitterers!

This Forest Queen from Africa has her proboscis fully extended and firmly planted in the nectar-soaked sponge.

This is a Zebra Longwing from Central America and northern South America. Sometimes they show up in the southern U.S. from Texas to Florida.

Interestingly, this Great Mormon is from Asia and the underside of its wings are red! There are several varieties of the Great Mormon, some more yellow, others with a swallowtail.

This Royal Blue is from Central and South America.

This obviously is not a butterfly, but a new design at Lane Bryant. When I saw it in the ad I immediately thought of the butterfly and what a beautiful inspiration for clothing.

I don't know what this butterfly is, but I thought the light teal-colored body was interesting.

Also displayed at the Butterfly Palace are some colorful reptile-type critters. I'll show those next week.

Join in on the Macro Monday. Post your close-ups, either with a macro lens or not, and link them to Lisa's Chaos. While you're there, take a look at all the other great shots of the macro-side of life.

I love that first one, he looks like he's staring right back at me! :) And that shirt totally makes me think of butterflies. Great shots! You have made me want to go out and hunt down some butterflies. :)

Beautiful butterflies! I love the royal blue. And the Lane Bryant is...interesting. That one could go extinct!

Such beautiful butterflies. I can understand why so many wouldn't turn out as much as they flutter about. Nice captures.

I think I like the royal blue best, all that wonderful color.
