Thematic Photographic 24 --- Rows: The View From My Pillow

Thematic Photographic #24 is a doozy --- rows! Carmi at Written, Inc. is the mastermind of this very interesting and fun weekly challenge. I don't know how he comes up with these but the Wednesday posting of just a one word theme will heighten our awareness of our surroundings so that we suddenly see that theme everywhere!

Now, there isn't much that with rouse me at 5:30 a.m. especially to the point of getting my camera. But as Jerry was getting ready to go back to work I laid in bed looking at a bright full moon outside our bedroom window. BAM! R-O-W-S! The horizontal slats of the mini-blinds were rows slicing the moonlight into strips! I got up, grabbed the camera, fumbled for manual settings, then curled up on my pillows to capture this awesome light. Night shots are so challenging, especially through a window that has double panes and a screen on the lower half. I was able to hold the camera very still against the pillow for the 10-15 seconds exposure. And here is the best of the many shots:

As I got up to put the camera away, I noticed another incredible sight: The full moon was reflected perfectly in the background birdbath. In the photo below, the bright white spot in the lower half is the moon in the birdbath. Fantastic, no?

It turned out to be a very timely capture of these photos, because within literally minutes a heavy fog rolled in, completely obscuring the moon, the trees, and the birdbath. The light from the moon gave the fog a pearly luminescence that only my mind could capture, and it lulled me back to sleep.

Join in the fun and show off your pictures of rows. Just jog over to Written, Inc. for the rules, leave a comment with the link to your blog so other TPers can visit. Here is one example at Nine Acres Photography that will light up your imagination!

How neat! And yes, these challenges do open our eyes, and minds to so much more.

As Arnold S says, "I'll be back"!

Hooray for pearly luminescence!

I'd hoped to get a moonlit photo of my own last night or tonight, but the weather has conspired against me. And it doesn't appear that it's going to let up until Sunday. hopefully there'll still be enough of a moon left to get the shot. Otherwise... I'll be at it again next month.

The moon is a capricious beeyotch is she not?
